You have a perfect relationship when you realise that a relationship can never be perfect.

Is it normal to have some negative insecure nagging thoughts at the back of your head while seemingly living in perfect, absolute and enviable bliss?

It was a long weekend that just passed. Much as I had looked forward to the Deepavali long weekend during the week, I wasn't stuck in hoping that the weekend lasted forever. Because...it is finally November! This month marks my 5th month in the real working world and I will be going on leave at the end of this month. 2 plus weeks before I can finally run off to another place in the world. I can't wait for the weeks to pass. It's like the longest foreplay ever. I have been counting down to this from about 9 weeks.

On Deepavali Friday...

I visited my boss (who has a broken wrist and just undergone surgery) together with three other colleagues from my team. We chatted for about three hours that day and I learnt a lot of things while they talked about work. Through other people's fortunes and misfortunes, I am now clearer of what expectations they have on lower level execs like me haha. And I have also realised that it is very important to be discrete and respectful of others, whether above you or below you. Because what goes around comes around. And tongues wag. My boss also shared her wedding photos with us. Tee hee hee. Lots of laughs and I really enjoyed myself!

On Saturday...

We met later that day because he slept in from a late night out and was slightly hungover. We then went to Velocity to collect his race pack for the MacRitchie run together. Afterwhich, we sat at Starbucks at Novena Square to do our work. He did his scholarly stuff while I did my report for work. This is the first time I worked during a weekend. It's a sign!! I really hope this doesn't happen too often.

After two plus hours of working, I had no heart to carry on anymore. Earlier in the day, we planned to go to Botanical Gardens for a picnic and to watch the free screening "Singing in the Rain". So, after Starbucks, we went to Cold Storage to prepare for the picnic.

Things that we bought:

1. Honey Glazed Full Chicken - I really wanted to buy only half. I knew we can't finish one. But a whole chicken looked prettier than the half. So there.

2. Farmer's Pick Salad Pack - It is actually just salad leaves. Believe it or not. It cost us $7.95 (about the same price as the chicken) because it is specially picked by farmers and triple washed and ready to eat.

3. Tomato bread.

4. Ice Lemon Tea, 2 bottles

5. Two disposable table cloth which we planned to use as picnic mats

6. He brought Doritoes in his backpack.

7. We didn't want to buy a full pack of fork and knives just because we needed two sets. I thought I was damn smart when I suggested going to MacDonalds to ask for it haha.

I think that was about it.

Took a cab to Botanic Gardens and went towards the screening place. Settled down amongst so many ang mohs, youngsters like us and families with maids and kids. We started eating our chicken together with salad leaves, very Korean style. Have it with bread and it become a chicken sandwich, Western style.

Right before the movie started, and after we were done with our food, raindrops started pouring on our heads and it got heavier and heavier. He mentioned that it would be ironic to cancel the movie screening because of the rain when the movie is called "Singing in the rain". We decided to stay on, rain or no rain. Remember how we bought two disposable mats? One was for sitting and the other to put over our heads. We stayed like this for the whole movie. So romantic. It was a very light hearted and entertaining movie! :)

After that, went over to his place and hung around a bit before going home.

Sunday...

Was supposed to go for brunch with him and his friends. But I cancelled because I had to stay home to finish the report that I had no more heart left to complete the previous day due to overwhelming distractions (i.e. him). Haha. So I stayed home, glued to my seat from 9am to 6pm and finished what I had to do. Okay, partly also because the report was due the next day haha.

That's about it. I cannot wait for this week to pass. Friends (with special dedication to those still in school, you know who you are), hang on there! I know it is the last week of school. Work hard and we can go out to play after!

I am 22, going 23. I haven't done much nor accomplished anything extraordinary in my life. Will you be proud of me?
