I Came Across A Fallen Tree
My Science lecturer on Carbon Monoxide poisoning this morning:
"If you want to know how it feels like, you guys can go try it out. I can't try it because I have no car. For those who drive, you can try keeping yourself enclosed in your car with the air con turned off, turn on the engine and feel the effect."
I was like "??????????????????". I hope I had missed her justification for saying the above sentence because I was dozing off. She said it in such a matter-of-fact-I-am-not-joking tone.
My HRM lecturer on Performance Management this afternoon:
"Why did you guys not give out sweets to your classmates for answering your questions?" Pause. Laugh. "Don't worry it's not a requirement to pass this presentation!"
How cute.
Readers' Digest: Right Here Right Now.
I like Jazz. I have high self-esteem, am creative, outgoing and is at ease.
School starts again this week, but then again, I did not have much of a recess week. I was busier than ever and I worked so hard on my projects. I was so stressed out and I had project meetings that lasted for the entire day. The back of my ears were throbbing madly for days. Alas, I think I can catch a very short breath now before the marathon starts again. Pretty pleased with myself.
Flashback: Last Friday

What I saw from the window sofa seat at Cathay Starbucks, where I had my BSP2005 meeting from 11am to 6pm. There were a couple other interesting personalities (with pretty and/or outrageous outfits) I wish I had taken secret pictures of. Oh and I saw Edmund Chen from this seat too. He's so hot.
Geok Meng's party at Munchie Monkeys!
I like this picture (from Pearl's album) very much, so happy and so colourful. Just like the cupcakes ((:
Okay, sleep now. Meetings again tmr. It's never ending.

Young Folks

This was what got me so distracted the whole afternoon. How sick can toy makers get?
Project Meeting at Vanessa's place, which was really more like a full day chalet. We were sooooo comfortable and sooooooo well fed, with pasta for lunch and loads of yummy snacks along the way. Too many cushions too. We were so sleepy.
Today, someone said to me upon looking at my arm, "have you heard of an epilator?" God. I was quite crushed at that moment. But I thought it was pretty funny haha.
School tmr again. And Friday as well. Work now. Bye. XOXO.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I got this from a gift exchange with the Crescent gang last Christmas. I never wore it till two days ago. And now, I can't take it off.
I have been so tired lately. I dozed off while in the middle of some Indie film which I understood probably 50%. But it was pretty interesting anyway. In that film, the characters could choose to undergo a nonsurgical procedure which involved erasing whatever memories one can have of someone else, so as to create that gap in his memory, to alleviate himself of the pain. It was quite scary, because it made memories seem worthless, tangible. Kate Winslet is so pretty.
Dear Body,
I am so sorry I had junk food for lunch today and fast food for dinner yesterday. In fact, I have been having unhealthy oily food pretty often these few days. I am honestly feeling guilty about my diet you know. But I just felt like I had a need to binge and I was acting on impulses. I promise I would go back to eating clear soups and have more fruits to keep you healthy alright?
Love, Pretty Pencils.

Why is the World so Happy?
Dear Kids,
Don't we all want to be all grown up and independent? We do crave that sense of freedom, don't we? But have you little kiddos ever thought of how it feels like when you are completely left alone, and there is just no one to bail you out when you crashed your neighbour's car? That is one warped sense of independence, isn't it?
Love, Pretty Pencils.

Mr Brightside
So, this past week had been pretty monstrous for me. I had three (actually, strictly speaking, it was four) submissions on two consecutive days and that had really taken a huge toll on me. Amazingly, although I had slept less than nine hours in two days, I was still able to hold out the entire day the following day feeling reasonably awake and normal. Well, of course there were times when I totally blanked out in my mind when my brain decided to take micro naps, but that happens to me pretty often so there.
Although I have not a single midterm after the break to study for, I pretty much had paid my dues given what I had done in the past week, not to mention the project-laden recess week looming ahead. But honestly, thank god for fun groupmates. It makes everything much more bearable.
Amidst all this buzzing around, of course I had managed to have some little fun ((:
Huiyi's 21st birthday party last night. The theme was mismatch. But apparently, no one really wore anything outrageous, so I hid what I had planned to wear haha.
Oh, and I must mention now that I have changed my phone, to the black E63 that everyone has. Happy as I am to get a new phone, I was slightly emo when I traded in my old LG Secret Black label which was still looking very new. Tempered glass and carbon fibre really works, not a single scratch at all after 1 year and 3 months. If it wasn't because my Secret phone was malfunctioning, I wouldn't have changed my phone so fast.
Okay, and lastly, me in Raybans! ((:

Bye! Love, Pretty Pencils.

Pretty Positive
I am pretty positive that I am a pretty positive person and that nothing can ever bring me down. Because pencils are much harder and tougher than you think.

We Spend Our Lives Waiting (for things that are worth it.)
Saturday afternoon was spent with Lover at BPP Starbucks doing work. Yes, work again. We had to wait for quite a bit before we got our seats and we almost gave up to go back to her place. But I have to say we were really lucky. After we got our coffees which were intended to be taken away, I slipped quickly into a seat once it was vacant right under the nose of another waiting patron (about 3 metres away). The weather was insanely hot, but I still had my hot Latte anyway.
Met Lydia at Vivo City afterwards to do our nails! Waited forever for the nails to dry and I was "handicapped" for a few hours in a bid to protect my newly manicured nails. Okay, stop laughing already. I know that is really bimbotic but yeah.
Headed to Holland V for dinner. We had Thai Express for dinner because of my Marketing term paper. We were secretly taking down notes on my pink Monologue, copying down the price range and food items. I really wanted to steal their menus. Ate our yummy food. And we waited only about ten eons for the bill to be delivered and taken back. We ended up walking to the reception to pay.
After dinner was dessert at 2a.m. Dessert Bar! Omg, it's a tad small and a tad expensive but it's really the best dessert place EVER. The place was very dimly lit, with very sleek and contemporary furnishings. What was best was that Lydia and I got the bed seats! The seats are similar to those at Bed Supperclub. It would be like how you prop yourself up against the headboard of the bed, with many cushions. Lydia and I had the Cheesecake Espuma (very special!), along with very rich ice cream and tea. We took one mouthful each and totally sank into the bed, with our eyes closed, savouring the food. Shook our legs there a bit, and only waited for about another ten eternities for the bill to be delivered and then headed home. Thanks Eunice Teoh (if you are reading this) for the recommendation! Sorry no pictures of pretty desserts because I didn't bring along my camera. Next time! I am definitely going back there.
And that's it for Saturday.

First Allowance
I find myself recounting this anecdote to a couple of people this week. I wonder why is this still so vivid in my mind, as if it was just yesterday that it had happened.
14 years ago, I was only 7 years old, and I was very excited about entering Primary School. On the first day of school, my dad knelt down in front of the then miniature axy and handed me 2 fifty-cent coins. He held up the first fifty-cent coin and said, "this first fifty-cent is for your noodles," he paused and held up the second coin and said, "this is for your coffee."
At that time, I said, "Daddy, I don't drink coffee."
He said, "Buy tea then, or save it."
I said, "Okay daddy" and I put the 2 coins into my checkered red purse.
This is where I stopped the story. I didn't tell anyone that I bought bread in the end and saved the rest of the money. And my mum came to school during recess time to watch me eat and fussed over me a little bit.
Why did things change so much since then?

And I Am Not Even Being Anal
I am appalled by how some students can just utterly ignore the basic respect for a report and a presentation, and I am only talking about the basic standardization of fonts, font sizes and type of bulletins used. I am not even measuring the margins!
And what is worse is that no one bothers going through the whole report nor the entire presentation. What has University taught these people? Cut and paste parts of people's work? They have to learn the importance of this four letter word...starting with F.
F L O W. The F L O W of the project, the entirety and sense of logic behind everything.
Seriously.

When I Have Got Nothing Better to Blog About
I could be so busy the whole day, so occupied, either with work or with play. I could be so yearning for a good rest, so exhausted, either in the mind or in the body. Yet, when I know that the next stop is home, I wish I could find a reason to stay away. Seriously.
And there are certain people in this cold hard world with whom it is really better to draw boundaries with. Remain just as friends, not too intimate, and have some good clean fun. Remember to draw the line there. Because this group of people have a huge tendency to hurt you when you least expect it. They might be so goddamn guilty about it and wished none of those drama ever happened and that everyone lived happily ever after, but the point is that they would have hurt you so bad it is more than enough. Seriously.
School work school work school work school work school work school work. Seriously.
Has it ever occurred to you that when you write/type a word so many times, you would ask yourself if that word was really spelled that way? Because all of a sudden, the word seemed foreign to you. Does that apply to people too? You think you know the person so well, you can spell him inside out, but yet, one day, you question yourself if he is really what you think he is. Seriously.

Wake Me Up When September Ends
Some random pictures from the week, sprouting from everyone's spontaneities, including myself.

Pretty stationery which look like multi-layered cakes, from Popular, where I shop at when I am broke. Or when I just need to get something pretty to make myself feel better and not know what to do with it later. A very therapeutic move I would say.

A pretty pathetic attempt of drawing me, but still......at least the scarf looks like the one I was wearing, kinda.
Lydia, Calvin and I decided to get these drumlets because of the rack. Packaging really counts.

Calvin and his justifications.
First Letter. I would like to say thank you too.
Dear Blue Dolphin,
September ain't really a good month, with overpiling school work and many things that are happening and already happened. I just feel like sleeping everything away. Okay, actually I just need you to tell me I am NOT crazy.
Love, Pretty Pencils.
