My Heart Will Go On

I have been very tired lately. There has been quite a bit of work and submissions the past week. Due to my hopeless habits (i.e. just wanna stone and daydream and die) and everlasting inclination towards procrastination, most of my work have effectively been produced at the very last minute, which resulted, of course, in me suffering from a severe lack of sleep. My skin is showing it. The pimples are popping.

Moments from this week that I remember very vividly:

1. I brought my Hello Kitty lunchbox to school on Tuesday. I brought sushi to school.

2. Tuesday night. Waiting for a cab I called that never came at Harbour Front for more than 30 min. OMG. Thank god I had company, I actually spent most of the time rocking hard with laughter.

3. Wednesday evening. Feeling the zeal and the zest to complete my MNO presentation (actually I think it was more like I had no choice as it was due the next day). I was alone in the library the whole afternoon. We had gotten good comments from my Professor for this presentation. Yay.

4. Wednesday / Thursday midnight. Struggling hard to stay awake to complete Customer Asset Management assignment that I don't think I even really understood.

5. Thursday morning. Arrived in class more than 30 min early. Had Charsiew bun and HL milk. Received mentos and fun sized snickers from the presenting teams in class.

6. Thursday evening. Bad (but maybe a little expecting) news. We didn't get through to the Finals. I asked myself for the millionth time if I was cut out for what I thought I wanted to do. And I wondered if there's ever anything I can do right and be proud of.

7. Friday late morning. On the way to school, on the train. I was wondering why the weather these days is so damn bloody hot. Then, I saw someone diagonally opposite me reading the Straits Times. The headlines said "El Nino Heatwave has hit Asia". Revelation.

8. Friday afternoon. My sandal broke while I was walking to business from the bus stop. Luckily, my sandal had so many straps it didn't matter that one broke.

9. Friday late afternoon. Jorg's class. Eunice, who was sitting beside me, gained the unsolicited attention of our dear lecturer. He turned around and gave her the most mischievous smile because she made a rather audible popping noise while opening a bottle in the middle of another student's presentation (which by the way, was realllllllllllllllly boring beyond words). Eunice immediately dropped me a message on MSN that said "OMG HE SMILED AT ME. SO CUTE."

10. Saturday morning. Went to the dentist at Parkmall with Lover. She put on braces!!

11. Saturday afternoon. Funan. I recounted a childhood incident to someone, who laughed really hard. I should really ought to stop feeling sore about it haha.

12. Saturday evening. Watched Titanic for the first time in my life. Okay laugh at me. I know I'm really slow, like 13 years record-breaking slow. It was good but I think the parts of the movie I liked were different from many people's. I liked the beginning of the movie. Because I felt it was filled with hopes and dreams.

13. Sunday afternoon. THE WEATHER WAS SO HOT. Wanted to visit The Pinnacle @ Duxton (I think we were crazy because the sun could have killed us at the top). We got there but didn't go up in the end because of some stupid thing.

14. Sunday evening. Watched Air Crash Investigations!!!

And my heart will go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.................(Chua, Jiahwa, 2010)

What The Hell Am I Doing

IN SINGAPORE?!?!?!

Another two of my friends (Claire and Juliana) have left for Europe just last night. Seeing their facebook photos at the airport is enough to make me want to cry. I am really happy for them that they can lead a new life in a place so foreign and so exciting. But at the same time, I am feeling all emotional about it. When can I leave this place? WHEN WHEN WHEN?!?!??!?!?!

Fastest option: Marry a foreigner.
(Kidding! I just told Calvin today that I would marry for love. LOVE. LOVE. I shall not dwell on the fact that he rolled his eyes and chuckled after I said that.)

Okay, sorry, I just needed to let it out hahaha.

Moments in Pictures

Pictures taken the whole of this week. Please pardon the lousy quality pictures because I only had my lousy 2.0 megapixel phone with me, unlike lover who has a very impressive Canon (or was it Nikon?).

1. Chinese New Year fireworks at Marina Bay on CNY Eve.

2. 140210, 1320hrs. My sister and I at Grandma's.

3. 140210, 2302hrs. I tear up my red packets, annually.

4. 150210, 1700hrs. Jacks are Black. Best time to get Forever 21 (Lin, Guo Fei Louis, Feb 2010).

5. 150210, 1702 hrs. Picture with the cutest cousin ever.

6. 150210, 1853hrs. My cute little cousin took this picture for me. With flash. And she obviously moved too quickly. I gave her my phone to quieten her down. In fact, I gave her all the accessories I was wearing that day, to make her obedient.

7a. 160210, 2002hrs. Resorts World. I smelled something called HOPE in this place, in every sense. Think about it.

7b. 160210, 2257 hrs

8. 160210, 2259 hrs. KISSES.

9. 170210, 1905hrs. Of all the places in the world to have dinner.

10. 180210, 1636hrs. At Harbour Front Bus Terminal. Taking a bus after two very exhausting meetings which I wanted to run away from the previous night.

11. 190210, 1257hrs. In Manhatten Fish Market at PS. Lunch with Jia Hwa, Vanessa and the Bad Guy.

12. 190210, 1607hrs. Resting in Ion Food Hall after combing the entire Orchard Road for gifts. I was about to throw a tantrum.

13. 190210, 1956hrs. Dinner at Lover's. I think I should take this chance to tell everyone how much I love Lover's mum's cooking.

14. 190210. What I bought today. What I drew today. What I am proud of. Juliana and Claire, I hope you would love these gifts from us! Please take care in Vienna.

15. 200210, 0047hrs. Lover's surprise love letter to me. AWWWWW ((:

16. 200210, 0239hrs. I'm like gonna die from posting this post. I'm gonna turn in now! Nights! ((:

What Dreams Are Made Of

I can't work, I basically can't do anything that involves any sort of brainpower. Because I can't concentrate, I can't focus. My mind just keeps wandering. I'm like living in a dream which I don't want to wake up from. It's not like I'm having the time of my life right now. It's okay, liveable, comfortable. But I just want time to stay still and not move forward, so that I can carry on dreaming and the reality of tomorrow won't have to come.

And, in the event that I do wake up from this dream, all that should be done, would be done.

Can I just, for once, play MIA on my groupmates for tomorrow's meetings and give them real lousy excuses that make them roll their eyes in secret?

Four Glass Walls

I'm currently at Chevron House's Starbucks in the Land of Elites. Just came out of Ogilvy & Mather, where I was for a field trip sort of thing organized by my promotional management lecturer. Regrettably, I was sleepy most of the time. I didn't exactly make an impression. To be honest, I was a little intimidated and I felt like I was in a movie as I stepped into the meeting room. Culture shock.

I'm still feeling sleepy as I'm typing. Whatever is going on in Starbucks right now is just a patch of blur. Voices are just continuous buzzing, in a few different tongues, without sense. I'm sitting right at the far corner, by a glass window. I feel like there are four walls of glass built around me. I am immune to anything outside of my four glass walls, and would be even if the sky crashes down on me right now. This is like a respite from all the continuous family gatherings and social activities the past few days. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy those, but I appreciate greatly this "me only" time before heading off soon for yet another family dinner.

The past few days of Chinese New Year flew by really quickly. Had reunion dinners, new year goodies, lots of catching up with people and, for something new, I went to Stefanie Sun's concert at Resorts World yesterday upon receiving a call from Kahyin who told me she had 20? complimentary tickets. I didn't wear much for the entire Chinese New Year, the weather was sooooooooooooooooo damn hot. Must be global warming. I promise I would be more environmentally friendly. Okay gotta run. Maybe pictures tonight.

XOXO.

Summer Sunny Sunshineee B.

Friday morning breakfast with Lover. Macs Deluxe. We finally had our pancakes.

I think V Day is overrated. As well as roses and chocolates that are sold at exorbitant prices during V Day. I love flowers. But I think I'm the kind of girl who thinks that the most romantic roses are those that are wrapped in plastic and sold at newspaper stands daily for six bucks. They come in many colours. Blue, white, champagne, pink, coral and red. I think there was never a day I walked past those newspaper stands without looking at those roses and thought how simple and beautiful they were. Or.....maybe flowers wrapped in brown envelope paper!

Simple is good when done in a tasteful manner. Happy V Day and Gong Xi Fa Cai! :)

It's Sunday Night With Monday Blues

"We could do the simplest things together and be happy. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant nor complicated. Tonight, we changed the sheets, we watched The International, we ate chicken rice, we drank yay coke and had a couple pieces of Italian chocolate flown in from London from your friend. There was no breeze this evening, but we were still very comfortable on the couch, your black leather couch.

I think I could kiss you a million times. No less.

The most fantastic way to end the weekend."

Yeahhhhhhhhhh No

Singapore in the eyes of a couple of foreigners whom I hung out with this weekend:

1. "The death sentence for drug trafficking is mandatory in Singapore right? Like when the trafficker carries drugs that exceed a certain weight? If that is so, why don't the syndicate just send a whole flight full of traffickers, each carrying just a little below that certain weight? I'm sure we would make it."

2. "I heard that Gayland is a really good place for durians. Gayland. I love durians."

3. "Have you been to that......aquarium in erm Sentosa? Sentosa is just......*scrunched up face*...."

4. On the topic of creative talents in Singapore.
"I find the art scene very contrived, don't you think? It's like something that the Government wants to make Singaporeans flourish in."
"Well.....maybe Singapore is too hot for creativity to thrive. The heat just makes people lazy."

5. "Why is it Singapore Idol? Not Singaporean Idol? Like American Idol?"

6. "Is graffiti allowed in Singapore? No? Oh...only on designated walls? Well....so much for graffiti. Defeats the purpose."

7. "You mean you can put two kinds of noodles in a dish of noodles?"

8. Upon entering Chijmes. "This is like an oasis in itself!!!"

So cute haha. I couldn't stop smiling.

Fridays with Jorg

Rubbish I bought today with Calvin Tay Wee Teck:

1. Sticker labels

2. Penknife

3. Double sided tapes

4. Hello Kitty 4-in-1 lunchbox (Calvin bought the Doraemon one)

I met Calvin for lunch at Lot One today. He had Pastamania vouchers from his sister so he kinda treated me to Pastamania. We haven't had Pastamania since....maybe SAJC days? It was not bad! I had prawn aglio olio. Yummy.

I then arrived in NUS Business School at 3pm promptly for my Promotional Management class as per all Friday afternoons. My lecturer for this module is Mr. Jorg Dietzel, from Germany. He's a very charming man and I kinda like his lessons. Every week, there would be a couple of students talking about their chosen advertisements as part of the module assessment. And for that very short 5 minutes, you get 30% of your grade determined, all on your own. And after 4 weeks, I would think that he has got really high expectations, which is good.

Today, one boy in my class presented. I was working on my laptop while listening to him. I didn't quite look at the screen and I didn't really know what he was presenting on. But all I knew was that he wasn't doing a very good job. He was like pausing and speaking in a damn awkward manner. I looked up at him and turned to Eunice and said, "He's so painful to listen to."

When he was done with his presentation, Mr. Jorg Dietzel, who was sitting right in front of me, said, in front of the whole class, "you know, it is actually painful to listen to you." What was the coolest thing was how he said it. Eunice immediately got reminded of Simon Cowell.

I really like his style. I shall seek to impress him when it is my turn.

Moment captured in: White Flag
I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be.
______________________________________________________________

Why do people get lazy and lethargic and not want to move?

Reasons I can think of:
1. You probably ingested too much food for your super late lunch after sitting through 6 hours worth of seminars, with your stomach rumbling 99.9% of the time. You get so heavy, like pregnant, with food.

2. The weather is so damn hot, so damn humid, and so damn.....hot. You start sweating even when you have come to the conclusion that you have no sweat glands cause you haven't had any sweat for years. Not even when you do hot yoga.

3. When you carry a bag that is probably heavier than the things in your bag combined. And apart from that, you carry a laptop (that you brought for nothing) and a textbook in your hands.

4. When you don't really know where you should be heading next. You would say yes even if some dude just walked past and asked you out. (okay, maybe not.)

5. And then you start fantasizing about the idea that perhaps, one day, you could master the art of apparition (more commonly known as teleporting) as if you went to Hogwarts instead of NUS.

All the above happened to me this afternoon.

Since Saturday

New travel bracelet ((:

I have quite a lot to say, but I think I'm too sleepy to write. Besides I need to get on with my readings for class tmr.

Before I end, one very interesting thing I learnt today was that graduate business students cheat more than their non-business student peers (McCabe, D.L., Butterfield, K.D., & Trevino, L.K. 2006). The same is also true for undergraduate business students. Research has demonstrated that undergraduate business students cheat more than their nonbusiness peers and that they are less likely to disapprove of cheating (e.g. Baird, 1980; Bowers, 1964; McCabe, 1997).

[Post note (with special dedication to Lover): The above refers to academic dishonesty, for instance, cheating in exams, collaborations, plagarism etc. Not the cheat-on-you kinda cheat.]

How interesting. Do you know why?

Bye for now.

Pancakes and Strawberries

What I did on Friday:

1. Met Eunice in town for our Marketing thing. We were walking around Sephora looking for some source of inspiration.

2. Met Claire briefly. So happy to see her again.

3. MNG.

4. Went back to school for promotional management class. Starstruck. Wong Li Lin appeared in my class. Omg. She's so hot, she's such a yummy mummy! She sat right in front of me and I gave her my brightest smile, along with a very enthusiastic wave. To put it in the most concise manner, she's the client working with us for a marketing campaign for her own product, thus her appearance in NUS.

5. Met the Cresent girls for dinner at Lau Pa Sat, where we had a major feast. Lydia and I discovered our common undying love for.....cockles haha.
Ham, choot choot, gong gong, la la.....(only they would understand)

What I did on Saturday:

1. Had class in school from 9am to 12 noon. Boring talk by the CEO of a pharmaceutical company. Got thrown into an unexpected circumstance where I had to sing along with the guitar to introduce myself in front of probably about 100 students. Only redeeming factor: Spinelli coffee was served.

2. Continued with my meeting with Eunice and Weilin at Hon Sui Sen Memorial Library. Thought till our heads ached. But I guess that was a good thing because it meant I really used my brains.

3. Met Juliet. Took an extremely well deserved nap, which I didn't move an inch at all, slept like a baby. Had nasi padang for dinner and Haagen Dazz for dessert at Vivo. Plans to visit Thaipusam in Little India abandoned because of wrong information provided by some cabbie.

What I did on Sunday:

1. Craved for Subway and bought Subway.

2. Got lost while going to Weilin's place. I ended up at Little India station. So near yet so far.

3. Brandstormed for the whole afternoon on the most beautiful day.

4. Had very delicious fish soup for dinner. Had sugarcane that I couldn't finish. And...the oyster omelette that never came.

5. Post dinner: Going crazy. Checking out facebook.

6. 11pm. Home.

XOXO. I have been very happy ((:
