Rustic Weekend
I bought her and her new name is Rustic.
The name was inspired by darling Twinnie Victoria Choo hahaha.

It has been a very eventful weekend with quite a number of unexpected happenings. Even my current location is a place that I did not exactly foresee myself to be at. Right at this moment, as I am typing this on Microsoft Word, I am seated at a pavilion at Changi beach alone. There are ants and sand around me and I really look more like I should be at a café instead of a (not so developed) beach. I am dressed in a cotton sundress, wrapped in one of my blue shawls, have heavy gold earrings dangling from my ears and carrying a bag both so expensive and so sentimental that I would really have preferred not to bring it at all. This is not to mention that I had just spent a small bomb on my perfectly manicured nails just yesterday. I don't mean to sound like some arrogant bitch but yeah, for illustrative purposes...haha.
But yes, I am already here and I am not really complaining. I am just sitting down quietly waiting as I occasionally look up from my laptop and watch him while he attends his triathlon training together with a group of enthusiasts (definitely not me). I feel like a nice girlfriend. In every ten min or so, there would be an SIA plane flying just above me (looks like its crashing into me), either about to land in Changi Airport or just about to fly off to somewhere else on the other side of the world. Changi beach is really quite beautiful with very tall trees and makes you feel like you are overseas.

He's right there! Training with the rest haha. I don't even know which one is him.
Well, there is a reason why I ended up here. Initially, the training was supposed to be at East Coast and the plan was that I wait at Macdonalds in air conditioned comfort while he attends his training. But the world is just against us and the training is actually at deserted Changi beach instead…..
Okay now…to recap the weekend…….
Friday night......
Was Pepsi Team BBQ. For the first time, every single member on the team was there and everyone brought along their partners, including me. I brought him along and I am so glad he got along so well with everyone, especially my boss hahaha. Just before we went over to my boss’s place, he decided to buy wine and I insisted we get those disposable wine (plastic) glasses and everyone loved them. We are such champions. The BBQ itself wasn’t that fantastic but I was just glad that he went and we had each other.
Saturday….
Meetup with Lover and Geok Meng. We had brunch at Black Boss (Dim Sum!) and it was quite good! Thereafter….we went to do our nails together and then we went to buy BB cream and pressed powder for me because I felt like trying new makeup!
Later in the afternoon I left the girlies and went to meet him and his friends at Robertson Walk where we had tea at Canele. That was a spontaneous meetup. Discussed about future trips and talked nonsense. Went to town to fetch his earphones and I bought Rustic.
Expensive Saturday.
On Sunday.........which is today...
Ten million people hijacked my cab. I was so annoyed. I picked him up when I finally got a cab and the cabbie took us to another world....Changi Village. We had lunch there. Bad nasi lemak. I wonder which is the good stall.
After lunch, he had to bike to the beach and I had to go on the bus because it was too far for both of us to walk together and to push the bike at the same time. So we parted ways for abit.
Things that went wrong when we were apart:
1. I forgot to renew my concession and my EZ Link had no money. Luckily the bus driver was kind enough to take me for free.
2. I overshot the bus stop I was supposed to alight at. And I had no idea the bus that I was on goes into the airport cargo area and that requires an airport pass. The police came on the bus and asked me for it. I was like "Erm sorry? what do you mean?" I thought I arrived at customs or something. He then told me to cross to the opposite side to take the same bus when it comes out of the airport. I almost threw a tantrum on the spot at him. I then remembered that he is the police.
3. When the bus finally came out after I waited for ten min (in the ten min, I saw planes take off so near me)the bus driver told me that the place I wanted to go to was of walking distance from that stupid airport cargo area. I wanted to cry.
I walked like 5678998764 km before I saw him cycling towards me in the end. PHEW. He settled me down at the bench and went off for his training.
And then here I am typing this.......waiting for him :)
Love, Axy (at 4pm thereabouts).

Working on an account in the snacks category has made me more sensitive to all packaged snacks, sweets and chocolates (and whatever other categories of snacks there are). My recent craze is Percy Pigs. Always remember that the big Percy Pigs are better than the small ones. It is so nice to eat. Yum yum.
I don't know what point I was making in the paragraph above. You have already read it anyway.
Anyways, I am a little irked at myself. I think I haven't been putting in much effort in meeting my friends. I am a perfect example of "Heavy Colour Light Friend". SIGH. Friends, please don't abandon me :( You guys still love me right? Hahaha. I will still try to make you laugh. And we can still be friends, like Percy Pigs and Friends! So cute.
JULIE LO, PLEASE FORGIVE ME.

We sometimes gather in the conference room in the middle of work to taste Pepsi (and its competitors haha) beverages and snacks from some of the global markets that we work on. We are always very excited to try because brand presence vary from country to country. This normally happens after the team members just flew back from a particular country for the presentation. And then, I hear my fellow team members talk about their brands with such familiarity and enthusiasm. 11:19 PM

On Friday night, we were at Esplanade. There were light beams shooting into the night sky from Marina Bay Sands. A few other buildings in Raffles Place and the Swissotel had beams shooting from their roof tops as well (p.s. you can find more pictures on Stomp). We don't know what the lights were for and we discussed a few possiblities; all we know was that it was so romantic, we just sat on the steps, with the most perfect view, and stared into the night. I swear this is the first time I have ever seen that area so happening and so beautiful. There were many aspiring photographers using their SLRs to capture that night scene. All I had was my Nokia E63.
I suddenly felt that everything was so powerful.....Singapore's prosperity, technology, the architect behind all the famous buildings in our little red dot, the people powering those lights, and.....the feelings we have for each other.

On Saturday......
We went to the famous Bedok Hawker Centre for breakfast. I bought Bedok chwee kueh (4 for $1, so cheap) while you bought congee for us to share. Very yummy and I am glad that I introduced a new type of food to you which you like.
On the bus, you lent me your aviators so that I can look like Fann Wong going to the beach. The bus went on Still Road and I asked you "Is there a road called Moving Road?" We then joked about why is Still Road called Still Road.
We got off the bus at Katong and walked towards Parkway Parade. We checked out some shops for abit and then under my lead, we walked to East Coast Park. Settling down on the bench at ECP, you put on your wayfarers and I still had on my Fann Wong aviators. We stared at the sea through our tinted lenses together and you asked me if I would like to go to Maldives with you. Like duh. While feeling relaxed watching the sea, you also told me you hated how the numerous ships clogged up the view of the horizon. I didn't have much to say cause I thought ships were part of the sea. Maybe Maldives won't have so many ships. And then you fell asleep on the bench. For like 5 min cause I woke you up.
We then went to get me my bike at a rental shop. I liked it very much cause it was green and pink. We rolled our bike to the skates rental shop next door and we got you your skates. I watched while the staff (who is actually really a little girl at most the age of my sister) took down your particulars and had a few sentences of exchange with you. While you were putting on your skates, that same little girl went to her other little staff kiddos and whispered loudly in Chinese that you spoke with an angmoh accent although you looked Asian. I tried to hide my smile. Did they think that I don't understand Chinese too just cause you don't?
As I got on my bike, I got a little nervous because I really can't even remember the last time I cycled. I have never been a good cyclist. I am afraid of falling and even more afraid of knocking into innocent people. But little did I know that the first person I crashed into would be you. Everything happened so fast as my bike ran into you and I watched you fall back on your skates. I saw you land on your ass. It was funny but I think my heart ached. I know you only stood there for me to crash into you because you wanted to help balance me. Ouch, I am so sorry.
Luckily, after 2 min (okay maybe 5 min) of stumbling around, I managed to speed off on my two wheels. Because of my uneven speed (due to poor control) and my wanting to stay away from you for obvious reasons, we were apart most of the time. I started to think that we should perhaps get a tandem bike next time. After about 30 min, the rain started pouring down on us and we were both in the rain on our wheels. It was quite romantic and fun actually, especially after I got more stable. We stopped by a pavilion eventually together with many others sheltering from the rain.
We returned the wheels after the rain got lighter. We laughed at how my bike went onto the grass while I tried to make a turn into the bike shop. I really suck haha. After that, we went to eat at Macs and we walked back to Parkway. We went past a church and we started talking about Mega churches in Singapore. Hmmm insight. Then we bought dinner and went home to your place. And there, we watched FlashForward till it was time for me to go.
Why did time pass so fast? I can't wait for the next weekend already.
